Configuring Settings for Enhanced Templates

S-Docs has introduced new global configuration settings designed specifically to simplify and automate processes within enhanced template editing and e-Signature workflows. These options allow administrators to establish organization-wide defaults for document formatting, naming conventions, file handling, and signing workflows.

These settings are located within the S-Docs Settings page. They are entirely separate from the classic S-Docs Setup menu, which controls configuration for the classic editor experience.

Getting Started

To access these configurations

  • Navigate to the Lightning menu within the S-Docs application in Salesforce.

  • Select the S-Docs Settings page.

Global Template Settings

The Template Settings tab allows you to define formatting standards and file management behavior across all document generation workflows.

Page Setup & Formatting

  • Page Size: Select a standard page format from the dropdown menu. Out-of-the-box configurations include US Letter (8.5 x 11 in), A3, A4, and A5.

  • Orientation: Set the default document orientation to Portrait or Landscape.

  • Margins: Customize individual default boundaries by entering unique values for the Top, Bottom, Left, and Right margins. If left unmodified, margins default to 1" on each side.

File Naming & Automation

  • File Name Format: Define how documents and templates are automatically named upon generation. Leverage static and dynamic variables (merge fields) to define file naming conventions that automatically populate record-specific data into the final file name.

Attachment Behavior

  • Create Salesforce Attachment and Link to Record: Enable this option to automatically create and link generated documents directly to the corresponding Salesforce record. These are uploaded and stored securely as Salesforce Files.

  • Delete related Salesforce attachment upon S-Doc Deletion: Toggle this setting to automatically delete related Salesforce Files whenever a parent S-Doc record is deleted, keeping your org organized and increasing productivity.

Template Level Setting Overrides

You can override global configuration settings for individual templates within the template editing experience. To access these options, click the settings icon within the template editor to open the document settings menu.

From this menu, you can customize the following template-specific properties:

  • Page Settings: Adjust the page layout, dimensions, and margins for the specific template. These options reflect the page properties available in your global settings.

  • Document settings: Customize attachment and file options, including the file name format.

  • Salesforce file deletion: Configure whether related Salesforce files are automatically deleted when an S-Doc is deleted.

Switching to the Classic Editor

At the very bottom of the template settings menu, there is a button that allows you to switch back to the classic S-Docs editor.
