Error: Encryption Key Unavailable The encryption key number X used to encrypt this data was deleted. Contact your administrator to get access to the data. Click here to return to the previous page.

Root Cause

During the client's Sandbox refresh, the settings for platform encryption were transferred, but the encryption key was not transferred or it is invalid.

Resolution

Go to Setup | Certificate and Key Management | Master Encryption Keys and click "Archive Current Key and Create New Key". This will archive any existing key and create a new key.
